The Cavemen is set to release much awaited Highlife Fusion Album
The Cavemen is a Lagos based ‘highlife’ fusion band founded by Kingsley Okorie and his brother, Benjamin, and came up with a genre called ‘Highlife Fusion’.
The Cavemen’s sound is a combination of afrobeat, highlife, jazz, and soul music. Their top singles include Osondu, Akaraka, and Bolo Bolo.
Their upcoming album is titled ‘The Root and is set to be released on the 22nd of August. The Cavemen’s sounds are so culturally rich and would immediately transport you to a place unbound by space or time.
They have a way of fusing bits of jazz and the heavy strings and chords typically associated with rock music with highlife, resulting in a cascading sound of instruments designed to flow through every fiber of your being.
The Cavemen is not a sound for everyone, but for those who aren’t afraid to be themselves. They represent the authentic sound, the brothers are not just singers but instrumentalists as well.
Benjamin plays the drum while Kingsley is a bass guitarist hence the nickname ‘Knote’.
‘’ I didn’t know in the last three years that we were going to be doing highlife music – Highlife fusion music’’ – Kingsley Okorie
The band intends to live by their mantra as they work towards more intimate gigs and better access to the world through their music.
